Well, there is a problem with open-source that you mention in the
difficulty of installating programs - I'd say also working with video
in linux, etc., or for those who don't know, even partitioning, i.e.
setting swap space or / or home or whatever. The problem is that most
people who use Mac 9-10+ or Win have other goals in mind - they want
to get to work on their own projects rather quickly, and so far open-
source is a lot slower than plug and play. Using rpm for example for
uninstall is more difficult than add/remove programs etc.
So in a way it _is_ a religion in the same way that getting your ham
radio license in the US is a religion - you have to learn morse code at
some level to prove your 'seriousness' even though it's been
deprecated.
